Troop Definitions

Troop Type Definitions, Troop Strength and Cost
HC = Heavy Cavalry: Armoured cavalry with trained warhorses, heavy lances and other “shock troop” weapons. TS value 8. Base Cost 14 ACr per man. Base unit size 125.
MC = Medium Cavalry: Moderately armoured cavalry using medium warhorses with light barding, light lances, spears and other light weapons. TS value 6. Base Cost 9 ACr per man. Base unit size 150.
LC = Light Cavalry: Troops mounting light horses, with very little armour, and armed with javelins, spears and other light weapons. TS value 4. Base Cost 5 ACr per man. Base unit size 250.
HI = Heavy Infantry: Footmen in full plate or less with axes, great-swords and other heavy hand-weapons. TS value 5. Base Cost 9 ACr per man. Base unit size 200.
MI = Medium Infantry: Moderately armed footmen in half-plate or less, fighting with pole-arms swords and other medium weapons. TS value 4. Base Cost 5 ACr per man. Base unit size 250.
PI = Pikemen: Lightly armoured – generally leather and light metal combinations and equipped with pikes, pole-arms and dirks. TS value 3. Base Cost 4 ACr per man. Base unit size 320.
LI = Light Infantry: Regular footmen and trained spear levies wearing little or no armour and fighting with pole-arm, spear, javelins, short-swords and other light skirmish weapons. TS value 3. Base Cost 2 ACr per man. Base unit size 320.
SE = Siege Engine: A large stone or dart-thrower with crew. TS value 50. Base Cost 25 ACr per engine. Base unit size 20 enines & 100 men.

Missile Weapons
Bossonian Archers add 3 to their base TS value. Add 1 ACr to base Cost.

Troop Quality
E = Elite: Veterans of 15 or more engagements. Base Morale 16. Increase pay by 50%. Double base TS value.
S = Seasoned: Veterans of 8 to 14 engagements. Base Morale 14. Increase cost to raise and pay by 20%. Increase base TS value by 50%.
A = Average: Veterans of 4 to 7 engagements. Base Morale 12. Use the base raise, pay and TS values.
G = Green: Veterans of 1 to 3 engagements. Base Morale 10. Raise and pay costs remains the same. Decrease base TS value by 20%.
R = Raw: Trained but with no battlefield experience. Base Morale 8. Decrease cost to raise and pay by 20%. TS is only half of base value.
